Branko Maric
Maric was born in Grahovo, Montenegro. He attended an art high school and then the Academy of Art in Sarajevo.  In 1992 he left his country to travel to Italy.  After a short stay in Bolzano, Maric settled in Rome for eight years.  In 2000 he moved to Salzburg, Austria, where he currently works and resides.

Maric uses an expressive painterly technique.  His broad visible brush strokes create beautiful ‘impasto,’ giving the painting texture and depth. The paint appears to have been quickly applied but each color choice and placement of the paint has been planned and directed while still giving an over all feeling of spontaneity. Maric handles his brush strokes in a similar manner to Monet’s, putting accents of bold color for highlights or shadows sometimes mixing or blending into the previously applied paint. This can be especially seen in his landscape paintings. Maric contrasts soft and bright colors in juxtaposition to each other creating pleasant but moving paintings.
